A persistent metallic taste in the mouth can be caused by a number of oral health problems. Among these is TMJ, a condition caused by misalignment of the jaw. In addition to a metallic taste in the mouth, symptoms of TMJ may include:
- Clicking or popping in the jaw
- Pain or swelling around the jaw joint
- Headaches
- Neck, shoulder, and backaches
